Hi,
I'm a regular lurker and have a 3yr old DS who has autism and DD who is 14months.

I'm wondering whether anyone has any suggestions as to how to start up a local playdate group for parents and ch with ASD.

I know there are support groups and workshops parents can attend and I have met some lovely people this way but their ch are already in school. My son is preschool age and as I don't work at the end of the week, it would be nice for both of us to meet people in similar situations as his best friend recently moved away and another started school.

Although there are some SEN groups available, my son won't go into unknown buildings so it is very difficult to get him to these places and actually enter them while also pushing his sister in a pushchair.

Therefore in my head I'm thinking visits to each other's houses/parks(weather permitting) and encouraging each others children to try new activities.

I know we could do these with other friends but it would be nice to be with people who would understand why you can't go to certain places or why you won't force your child to go somewhere if they don't want to.

I'm in SE London and have posted locally on a couple of forums/websites but to no avail.Just wondered if anyone else might have any other ideas.
Thanks and sorry for rambling.

I'm very lucky to have found some wonderful friend via a support group here. I would keep going to support groups, maybe without ds until he is able or until you find someone like minded.
If you get really stuck I'm in herts and not too crazy (don't believe what they tell you) !
