this is good i take it?

they know he got turned down for SA and the reason they are requesting it is because of the difficulties I have getting my son to school. Other threads on that.

Paediatrician and gp are both supportive and know that my son has behavioural difficulties, wether they are due to his medical condition remains to be seen.

Teacher still saying hes fine in school, although obviously hes behind and is reluctant to learn because of this. Im still saying if hes fine then why the problems with getting him to school, which i find odd Hmm

It's great news.

Try to talk to the EP before the observation so you can prime her for what she should be looking for

thanks indigobell, so does this mean the school DO think there is a problem even though they say hes "fine" as he doesnt have the aggressive outbursts at school? bet it will be a 6month wait

yes very good news
Schools don't get the ed psych in unless they have concerns. Ask them to state exactly what their concerns are.
If it was just attendance/parenting they could have referred to EWO/attendance officer.
Ed Pysch may hopefully be able to assess why he is behind in school so this is definitely a step in the right direction.
Make sure the ed psych is aware of his sensory difficulties and how these impact on his ability to cope in school (have seen your other thread - not stalking you!)

School definately have concerns. They only have a very limited number of hours of Ed Psych a term - so they only see the kids who the school have a lot of concerns about.

brandy77 · 06/01/2011 07:43

Morning indigobell, so do schools get ed pysche hours per school? if this is the case it might be that he we would be seen quicker then and not have a 6month wait perhaps? thankyou.x

Yes. Each school gets a certain number of hours per term. And it is the school which decides who is top priority. I expect he'll be seen this term.

Also remember a school gets judged by ofsted and the lea on it's attendance record. So they really care about getting your son there.

ok thankyou indigobell, that is very interesting and something i wasnt aware of.x
