why is it so expensive? both my dd and ds have coeliac and my ds has asd. he only lives on gluten free chicken nuggetts from sainsburys, which now cost 3pounds fifty for a pack of 20 nuggetts. i have tried making my own but he wont touch them.

Could you try getting him to make them with you? Sorry if you've tried this already.

Just wondered if you can get any gluten-free foods on prescription?

You can get GFF foods on prescription but just the basics - pasta/bread/flour not nuggets etc.

Some places in Europe actually give you £20 a month extra to buy GF food (but nothing on prescription) personally I'd prefer this as DS will not eat any of the GF prescription stuff ......

If he is dia coeliac/ASD could you not claim something like DLA to help with the cost (no idea if you can do this by the way - just thinking out loud....)

u need to get crafty and eithr get him involved or tell a white lie that your own are new-improved shop bought variety, make own , freeze and take out as needed. Good thing about making your own is you can add some veg/herbs (or ask him to help). You can also use diff type of meat eg like a burger type. I used to grind puffed rice as breadcrumbs & add herbs too, but now I don't even use coating anymore, my ds is a teen now.

Can you buy a pack, use them but save the packaging, then make your own and subsitute?. We use to do this with my brother. Mum would make sure he saw her get them out the packet and he never complained. ! Apologies if you've done this. Really glad you posted thought as I've never found gf chicken nuggets before! brill.
