depending on their age you may be able to get supplied through the district nurses if its for incontinence they are called conti wipes they are dry wipes but each one is 12x12 so much larger and at free what doesa little water cost.

Have you tried Tescos value wipes? They vary in price from 17p to 35p a pack depending on what mood Tescos in. They are very moist for price and fragrant free. A little thinner than some wipes so if needed sometimes use 2 at a time.

needcoffee1982 · 02/01/2011 15:13

ive tried the tesco value ones but they were so small had to use 4 at a time. i'm using tesco own brand at the mo but they are getting expensive now the are more than one pound per pack

Well, the cheapest option is reusables, as if you had a baby in cloth nappies. You have to make enough to last about 3 days (you don't want to be washing every day) but you just cut up the cheapest/thinnest towels or flannels you can find into wipe-sized pieces.

cluttermountain · 02/01/2011 15:28

Gosh they have gone up in price. I thought own brand Tesco green and blue about 85p. Still expensive though at a pack a day. They do mess about with their prices. Could you try again with the district nurses? They should supply enough nappies. I have had some experience with continence assessments but with adults so I don't know about childrens services. I do know that the gentleman I knew was assessed by the district nurses every 6months.

needcoffee1982 · 02/01/2011 15:32

thay say he is on the maximum amount of nappies allowed

we use the morrisons own brand they are (at the moment) 17p a pack and quite nice and moist, and a reasonable size.

needcoffee1982 · 02/01/2011 16:19

no morrisons near me i'm afraid. only a tesco garage! i do online shopping with sainsburys and asda

Sad, would offer to bulk buy and post, but think that would push price up to what tescos is, Hmm

sickofsocalledexperts · 02/01/2011 17:36

Boots online do deliver, and are currently doing 2 for 1 on their own-brand wipes, but I'm not sure how they compare with others on price. Think quite good quality though

needcoffee1982 · 02/01/2011 17:51

thanks everyone. will try boots online. do you have to pay delivery?

OP posts:
sickofsocalledexperts · 02/01/2011 17:52

yes you do pay delivery (£2.90) so would only be worth it if it's a good deal and you bought loads I guess?

My friend only buys sainsbury value ones when they do the baby offers she says they work out at 9p a packet! She bulk buys. I haven't read the rest of the thread so sorry if someone has already said this!

Tiggles · 02/01/2011 19:08

Sainsburys value ones are fab. Unfortunately my local store no longer stocks them :(

LunarRose · 02/01/2011 19:12

sounds silly, have only ever used huggies, always found with the cheaper ones I used twice as many (tested this a few times) and was a false economy. Asda buying bulk reduced the cost

starfishmummy · 03/01/2011 20:17

I use Johnson or simple and just stock up as much as i can when they are on offer. They're not cheap brands i know but Ds has had problems with other brands.

For reusable ones would something like cheap own brand j cloths do - they can go in the washer and soften up when washed and they are not so different to the thicker continence cloths.

cloelia · 03/01/2011 20:35

have you thought of looking on line at something like Incontinence Choice? I do not know if they do wipes but I buy the bed pads from them and they are much much cheaper than our local pharmacy.
