I bet that has gone, - but I don't want a fighting name. I want a name of dignity now.

Well Happy New Year to you all.

Thought the fireworks were very impressive in London, - choreographed to the music very well and everything!

Dunno if I've just accepcted my lot, but boringly I have no desire to be amongst those millions squishing to find a place on a tube right now.

signandsingcarols · 01/01/2011 08:11

Happy New Year all, (duo of boring old farts here, all in bed before 12!) love fireworks, but heard them go off from in bed and thought, shall I get out and look??? Nah, bed is too snuggly Wink

Hope this year is a good for you all, Grin

pinkorkid · 01/01/2011 09:37

Happy New Year to everyone.

Didn't make it to midnight last night. Like signandsing raised head briefly from pillow to listen to fireworks at midnight. Enjoying ten minutes peace now before they all wake up.

Tomorrow will have to be the cold turkey back to school getting up timetable again. Though tempted to leave it until first day back. Anyone else need a chisel to get dcs out of bed on a school morning? Or are you blessed/cursed with ultra early -risers?

realisticdevientenigma · 01/01/2011 09:41

well I think we got to bed for about 3ish, though dd was still up and is now still in bed, hence the use of the laptop!!
I have an ultra early riser pink, however he puts up a good fight and doesn't go to school, another problem.
DS managed to watch the fireworks on TV, he thought they were great, sound was also turned down lol, however it's progress.
Happy new year everyone x

5inthebed · 01/01/2011 10:14

I managed to stay up until 12, DS2 crashed at 11:30 and luckily slept through all the fireworks that went off.

We let two chinese lanterns go last night, sent them up to heaven for FIL. Boys blew kisses at them before we released them. Was beautiful.

Agnesdipesto · 01/01/2011 12:01

Sadly I went to bed before this thread even started!
Happy New Year everyone.

bigcar · 01/01/2011 12:03

Me too agnes!

Happy new year everyone Smile

TheArsenicCupCake · 01/01/2011 12:39

Happy new year!

We've just got back home and I'm shattered!
Nice quite ( ish) night with my folks.. Dd didn't manage to stay up although she tried!

And spoke to the ds's on the phone this morning who are tired and grumpy and got woken up with a cold flannel so their dad can take them on a 10 mile walk today... Neither of the boys want to go!

And my mums ghosty thing in her house set off the kitchen radio ( which was turned off).. At full blast bang on midnight so ot blared out old langsine ( sp)!!.. So we all said happy new year to the ghost too.. Which then poked me in the leg and spent all night bouncing balls of light around the old bedroom!

( it's a 300 year old farm cottage in the middle of nowhere and pitch black at night!)

LollipopViolet · 01/01/2011 13:53

I got back from my friend's house about an hour ago. Between us I think we drank nearly 3 bottles of wine. I have a slight headache and am very tired.

We sang Auld Lang Syne at midnight, which is something I've always wanted to do but my family don't do new year really so I've never had the chance, and watched the fireworks on the Thames on the telly. Was a good night.

realisticdevientenigma · 01/01/2011 14:11

talking about spooky goings on arsenic........our sat nav, when all was quite said, turn around when possible. It hasn't been used since Christmas eve and theres never enough battery on to start it. You literally have to sit in the car with the engine on waiting for it to charge enough to switch it on!!! Then that said you usually can't get a signal in a building??? Who turned it on, why did it come on??? I took it out of the case and said, I'm staying in and switched it off!!

TheArsenicCupCake · 01/01/2011 14:31

Weird!

I'm not really a ghostly believer... However.. My mums house has changed my mind!.. But only in her house! And some of the stuff that happens there is eye watering... Although the house has a lovely homely feel about it.. So whatever is there is friendly :D and that's okay by me !

wendihouse22 · 01/01/2011 15:59

Starlight?.......You should be "Twinkle Twinkle".

Feeling a bit groggy today. Guess that's what it comes to at 48 ...... I can't drink THAT much anymore without feeling hungover. Only had 2 and a bit glasses of Cava. Disgraceful!

intothewest · 01/01/2011 16:54

happy new year and all that ..... actually stayed up til 12 (I normally go early and get woken up by the fireworks)-spent it with family which was all nice until ds had his first meltdown of 2011 in the car on the way home for an hour - all o.k now

moosemama · 01/01/2011 18:53

Happy New Year all!

I did manage to stay up past midnight, but we were watching a film and only realised it was midnight because of all the fireworks - oh and the dog jumping on my lap. She's terrified of fireworks - and she's not exactly small either!

Arsenic, Shock at your spooky goings on - how exciting to have a friendly, festive ghost though! Grin

Been in bed all day today with killer sinus pain and various other weird symptoms - which I would think fair enough if I'd actually drunk anything other than hot chocolate last night! Hmm

Managed to drag myself downstairs at tea time for a roast dinner courtesy of dh though. Wink Grin

FanjoForTheMincePies · 01/01/2011 19:01

I was asleep at 945 Blush

thederkinsdame · 01/01/2011 23:59
