O/T Therapy -sensory diet for arousal levels and visual perceptual skills

I have just had the report through from DD's assessment. I will not be able to talk to O/T until after the hols so I thought I would ask on here if anyone has any experience of what sensory techniques etc.. may be suggested to help with arousal levels. (DD is 4.6 ASD) - DD presented as very passive during the assessment ie happy to co-operate but needed a lot of prompting and guidance.

Also, Visual Perceptual Skills were tested by The Beery -Buktenica Development Test - DD scored on the 13th percentile - below average. What does this mean?????

Thanks

Not really sure what this eamns, but google 'retained reflexes' and look for a sensory trained OT who may be able to help.

Visual perception is about how you see things. My DS has very bad visual perception skills and the whole world seems distorted to him. For example they showed him some straight lines and asked him what he saw and he said wavy lines :(

However, especially if your child is young, visual perception can be improved.

DS can only see the board if he is sitting directly in front of it and he can't copy off it.

Hopefully the OT will be able to give you exercises to help his vision. Otherwise come back here. There have been loads of threads about it.
