OK folks..need more advice please!
quick summary for those that don't know:
DD3 has diagnosis of Aspergers (diagnosed Feb this yr) Has been struggling at school since reception. Been on School Action, then Scool action+ since Feb.
She is failing to make much progress. Not totally convinced the school has done all it could. HT a bit rubbish in general.
Then had a report form LSA which made certain recomendations and school said they couldn't fulfil all of them (ie advice for specific 1:1 support) due to lack of funding and resources issues.
I applied for a SA for Satement. Just heard it has been refused- basically I think because they feel school should be able to meet DDs needs without a statement.Am going to appeal.
Soooo Yeterday I had a meeting with the HT. I raised several points with her. She was very pleasant in her manner, and siad all the right things - ie that she wants to support us etc...
I went trhough the form she filled in for LEA and pointed out how badly it was filled in , with barely any info on it. She reacted as if she hadn't realised what sorts of things she needed to put (useless woman!)and made notes whilst I explained to her the sorts of things she should have included!
She said she had had a letter from LEA, which she described as being "intimidatory" and I think may have been critical of her failure to meet DDs needs. However she continues to maintian that there are certain recomendations which she can not put in place for DD as she doesnt had the resources.
I have asked her for detailed written info on:Exactly what support DD has had so far
What support she currently gets
Which of the recomendations she will be able to comply with and which she wont
What she would require to enable her to fulfil the ones she currently cant.
She is going to put all that in writing for me over next 3 weeks.
She also then said that the LEA bloke had rung up saying he needed to speak to her "urgently" as he had a meeting with me?!?
SO tomorrow I am meeting with the LEA bloke. On the phone he was happy to arrange a meeting, but also very dismissive saying "well yes I am happy to meet you, but there will be little point as it wont change anything"
I am planning on going through the LSA report with him and clarifying he feels that the school should e able to provide EVERYTHING on it for dd without a statement.
I am also going to point out that DDs needs are very complex, and I dont feel yet fully understand, and ask how we can fully get to the bottom of her needs if they wont do SA
Also then I need to know that if they continue to say that school should provide these things, and school continue to say they cant...who has responsility to then see that DD gets what she needs?????
what else do I need to ask/discuss.....
I have few key phrases already memorised form sencop, and will be spending this evening reading more bits of it...
Any other tips??
TIA
