They have just taken all three dc's out Christmas shopping..
Both of them have gone so that dad can steer ds2 through the shops.. And give him some space ( dad is 6'1.. Tall about 6 foot wide shoulders and retired army..And does a look that makes onlookers weak at the knees:) If anyone can give his space it's him!)..

Mum has already explained everything to ds.. Where they are going, which shops, where they are going to stop to eat and what to expect!

So they have all just left ds1 towering above my mum.. Dd holding her hand and ds2 right next to grandad with grandads hand on his shoulder!

A whole fat nothing! :)

SENCOP is sat there waiting for me to mark my places in it.. And I have another list and letter to write.. But I'm ignoring them !

aaw that's nice Xmas Smile

They sound really in tune with what your dcs need too which is great, it's good they have other adults in the family that 'get' them. Can I borrow your dad when I nip in town to give me some space? Xmas Grin

Lovely Xmas Grin

DS has a super gran who knows how to handle him too.

She is a godsend.

TheArsenicCupCake · 11/12/2010 15:30

Namey .. It's great ( and yes you may borrow dad! Lol)

mum is a psychologist ( although more corporate rather than child lol.. But it does help).. Dad is highly likey on the spectrum and just understands ds2..without a blink.

And they are both really used to SN because of my sister.. ( though that wasn't ASD.. But still helps loads!)

Ooo! Hope you enjoyed that doing nothingness!

Wish I had a grandparent for my ds.

Lucky girl.

TheArsenicCupCake · 13/12/2010 12:37

Wendi.. I really know how lucky I am.. And I'm willing to share my folks!

( they are actually looking into becoming respite carers as they are still active enough, have experience of SN and very soon they'll both have a lot of time on Their hands... Both of them have said it would have helped them so much when my sister was young... I'm guessing they are trying it out on ds :) ).

Am sure you do, CupCake....

Just feeling sorry for my little self at the moment cause everywhere we ask for help it's a big fat "NO!"

They sound like good folks.
