DS2 has dyslexia/dyspraxia/dysgraphia, APD (Auditory processing difficulties) and low proprioreception with is giving him constant back pain.

I want him to go to the Moat School in Fulham which is 10 mins from us (traffic permitting). He has been turned down at SEN Panel and they are offering the roughest school in the area in a "unit". Forget it, I and he are so sick of him being exhausted and depressed at being different.

I am a single parent and we will go down the pan if I have to home school him.

What next?

The naturally reject you and now you have to reject the placement and go to appeal. I am sure there are many more people who can offer advice on this forum.

In our case we have had the same thing for secondary and have just sent in my rejection letter. I am happy to go the local comp but they have sent us to the roughest comp in the area as it has a unit. I'm hopeful that we can get our first choice once they understand that I am happy to do my own transport. Often this is the first stage of negotiation saying you will cover transport.

Good luck and hope you get some better advice than I can give.

We are at same stage- rejecting mainstream and going to appeal.

Sounds like you need to appeal to sendist explaining why moat school meets his needs and school they are proposing doesn't ideally with supporting evidence from independent reports to back up your arguments. Have you approached sossen, ipsea or any of the dyslexia support groups for advice? You can, if you want, carry on negotiating with lea meanwhile asking them to look again at his case.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
