DLA - reconsideration

I have asked for a reconsideration on my Sons dla, which was declined on application.

They now tell me they are waiting for medical advice?

What does this mean? apparently it is not a medical examination and they have all reports back

Many thanks

They have a special department for Medical Advice for people with complex conditions, or when the Decision Maker feels that the evidence they have conflicts with what is written in their Handbook of Medical Conditions.

So, for example, if your child had mild dyslexia, and you and other health professionals were stating that as a result of that condition the child needed 24/7 supervision, then alarm bells might be ringing.

Alternatively, if your form suggested relatively low care needs, but the medical reports suggested that the child would be likely to need more care, they may approach their Medical Advice Dept for what would be 'typical'.

The other time they may approach is if you were stating a case for High Rate Mobility on grounds of Severe Mental Impairment. They would seek advice on whether SMI is likely given the evidence.

They may have written to your child's Paediatrician for clarification of a particular issue, also.

Yeah I think definitely keep fighting the good news is the backdate the longer it takes The bigger it is!! Maybe if you download the celebra guide, you will find a better way of presenting your case, when I had to appeal DLA for myself for chronic depression,I got my gp to write a letter stating my difficultys it was only a paragraph, then got my oh to write a history from how I was before pnd and how I am now I was awarded LRC And LRM and only had a paper hearing! So there is hope if you attend te chances are higher! X

Thank you so much I have just looked at the celebra site again.

I found that they will design a portfolio with loads of info all about your child.

This is brilliant and I would not have looked if you had not put them back in my head, I now realise that my ds can be supported by them
