I have an interview to be an SEN TA tomorrow.

Hi

I have been working at this school under an agency for about 3 months now and tomorrow have an interview for a permanent position with the school.
Am very nervous, but hopefully will be ok.
I don't have any qualifications, they know this, but I'm hoping someone who has been there can give me some good interview techniques.

They want to know something positive I have achieved whilst I have been there so think I will talk about the ongoing bond and trust I am building with the children and staff alike.
I think I'll also try to drop in something about how much I have learned etc etc

Abything else that'd go down well?

Yes it went really well and I got the job!!!!
Apparently I gave a very good interview and have been offered a 2 term starter contract and the head teacher says she looks forward to helping me develop my skills

such a relief, I really wanted it. Been waiting months for the interview.
Now I can start on their training plan. They will do NVQ's and everything with me.

Oh dear, that's not good.
I'm really lucky, this is the first school I have ever worked in.
Before having dc's I ran pubs so this is completely different, but after 3 years at home, I needed to re-connect with myself as a person.
I signed up with an agency because I wanted to work with children but I didn't want to work full-time.
I did 3 days in primary, 2 days in secondary and then was booked for an early years class. On my 2nd day there I was asked to sign on long term and on my first day as long term agency the head of the department told me she'd like me to apply for a permanent post.
All the staff are really nice and supportive and I seem to have settled in well.
The only down side is is that it takes me over 2 hours to get there. I don't drive so travel by bus and train. That will have to change!

Y'see that's how it should work. I'm not a Mum (just very very broody!!) but have worked with people with SN for over 5 years now - which is why the nice people here let me post lol. I've had a fair few jobs now and while I have adored the people I've worked with, the management have, in most cases, made the place completely unbearable. I'm lucky enough to have just landed a job with a company that are on the same wavelength as me; little things like doing your absolute best for the residents, giving them lots of choices, treating them like human beings with emotional needs not just lumps that need feeding and cleaning once in a while...
