Dyspraxic mums?

Seeing as this is the only place where I know of mums who are dyspraxic. Did any of you have labours that took forever to get going? I had 3 weeks of slow pre-labour with DS1 and 4 days of it with DS2. I wondered if it was a dyspraxic thing or just me? It's almost as if my brain says go into labour and my womb says eh? what? for a while and then suddenly understands what it's meant to be doing and gets on with the job. DS1 born after 4.5 hours established labour and DS2 born in 90 mins established labour so I'm fast once I get going. I also have hypermobility and fairly dodgy muscle tone as well if that helps.

I'm not a dyspraxic mum, but i have a dyspraxic DS. Official time in established labour 71 hours and 57 minutes! Ended up with a c-section as it was nearly 3 days - labour from the start was a good 2 days before that, but very intermittent, so i got plenty of shopping/chores done!
The reason they always give is that the baby wasn't distressed - in fact, they made me jump up and down to make him wake up - and eat ice cubes. Every change of midwife reckoned they could get me back up and running. I should have realised then that it was the start of the fob offs! I should have also realised that i was going to have a chronically slow and disorganised DS - bless him!

I'm not dyspraxic either (sorry maybe my post won't be much help!) but had similar experiences with my first birth. Was in pre-labour for literally weeks with DS! My DD has a condition similar to dyspraxia with dodgy muscle tone and hypermobility and I've often wondered how easy it will be for her to manage pregnancy. Just wondered whether you found it hard going?

1percentawake - I think the hardest thing was the change from pregnancy to motherhood. As far as I was concerned someone had taken away my bump and given me this baby. 2nd time round was a bit better as I already had DS1. This time the midwife has arranged a special appointment where we are going to the labour ward, talk in great detail about the birth and I will have DS3's cord clamp, red book and postnatal notes to take home with me. Physically I always get extremely tired in pregnancy but not sure if that's related to dyspraxia or not. This time it's probably partly to do with lugging a non walking 2.5 year old around. I get more disorganised with every pregnancy as well. My cousin has dyspraxia though and she was absolutley fine.

DH has AS which makes labour interesting. He times my prelabour contractions with the kitchen timer and he has a go at the midwives if they dare to do something that's not on the birth plan! At one point with DS2 I phoned my PIL's who were looking after DS1 and asked them to bring back DS1 and take DH instead lol.
