Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Thought as much, DLA refused, rather than appealing or asking for a reconsideration, can I start the whole form again?

I now know I didn't put anywhere near enough info down on the original form, I did ring and add about 15 new things, but the lady on the phone just took them down as bullet points, and I also have more info to use as well.

I still have no professional reports etc. but I have been keeping a diary (though only since Friday!) so obviously I can be much more accurate etc.

Can I just fill in a new form, and send it off?

If you fill in a new form you and you are awarded you will only get DLA from the date stamp on the new form - you will not get it backdated to your original claim date. You could appeal on the grounds that they have not taken all the information that you provided into account. Have you ever used a CAB to help?

Ah thanks :) TBH, since filling it in, I have realised that it was so lacking in information, and detail, and that there are certain phrases to use etc. there are even new things that I didn't realise were part of DS2's problems, I just want to start it again, using the Cereba guide, we are seeing a doctor next week for the first time so hoping we'll have a bit of 'back up'.

Think we just got a bit carried along by his HV, and we should have stopped and taken more time. Second time lucky?!

Normally i'd say reconsideration but if you can get by without backdated a new form may be easier (when ds's DLA was being reassessed we lept them supplied with info as it came in, not just that sent initially though- ask if you can submit additional info).

If apperwork's an issue consider BIBIC as we found their documentation to be very useful for DLA.

I've just submitted mine and i'm bricking it nervous. I feel like i've done it all wrong Sad

How long did they take to give you a decision?

NatalieJane · 29/11/2010 13:46

Thanks Santas, will have a look at BIBIC :o

Queen, I sent it in on the 3rd Novemeber, I rang last Friday and they said it could take up to 13 weeks, but I rang again this morning and the decision had been made (I was chasing it up because I was fully expecting not to get it, and wanted to start again ASAP!) From what I've read, the general consensus on MN is that they are getting through them at lightning speed at the moment. Good luck with yours :)
