Just got back from a local government thingy I go to and apparently a lot of PCT's are stopping the funding of nappies completely to save money,

The usual gripe came up, (nappy provision) and we were told ours is one of the only areas areas in the country which will still be receiving free nappies for the forseeable as a lot of PCT's will be cutting them as 'non essential' we were told to check online, has anybody been affected yet ?? Or is it just a load of whitewash ??

Urgh. I hate feeling so vulnerable like this. If I'm not worrying about ds's dla being taken away/cut I'm worried about his libero pull ups going. Sad DS wouldn't magically become toilet trained if they cut nappy funding, I would just be going back to footing the bill and now he's the size of an 8 year old I don't even know where I would buy nappies for him, or how much they would cost.

Oh dear - only just seen this - not on here often enough.

Will call our service and see what info I can find here.

Nappies (sorry, "pads") are essential - dd2 has no feeling or sense or knowledge of toilet stuff. And leaks everywhere is she poos. Have to clean bed/seat/wheelchair etc too.

I don't know what the truth is behind it (or even if it's just hearsay) dosen't effect me now tbh but it does all my friends, my sisters a bugger, she's finally getting my nephew toilet trained but hasen't phoned the nappy company (and dosen't intend to) instead she's been passing them on to people we know Grin

Surely helping an incontinent child (or adult) to keep clean and contain their messes is an health issue, though?

And what would we be expected to do? DS2 still fits in nappies we can buy from the shops, but even the libero size 7s are getting small on DS1 - not that they're entirely suitable for him, anyhow, because he can use the toilet, although very erratically and usually only for wees and we need to be able to encourage that and encourage him to be able to do it relatively independently instead of always relying on an adult to fasten a nappy for him.
