Anyone tried AIT?

Dd has really sensitive hearing and lots of sensory problems. Saw a programme on Trevor MacDonald (I think) and was very impressed with what I saw.
Although I can imagine it costs loads.
Just wondered if anyone had tried it?

Is this not what George and Sam had (as described in the book)? It helped George but not Sam.

I haven't tried it with ds1 or ds2 but know someone who tried it with their ds. It was part of a research project and worked well for them. It wasn't hugely expensive IIRC. I think they had to pay a couple of hundred pounds for the equipment but that was all.

It seems to be one of those things that works well for some children but does little or nothing for others.

I thought you have to visit the centre every day for 2 weeks or something?

Poor dd what with Bibic, cranial and now this lol

For this particular research study the children were given a particular kind of personal stereo-type thing with headphones. They had to listen to it for a short period of time each day and the results were monitored. It was some kind of specialist equipment though. Apparently an ordinary personal stereo wouldn't do. I don't know how well the other children did in the study though.

£1500??? Ouch!

Makes me feel guilty and as though I should try it.

As dh and I have said about Bibic and Cranial, as long as it helps, even if it's 5% it still helps.
