Gutted, school refused

Namechanger here ... 'sounds like ...'!

Received finalised statement today naming current MS primary (which DS is not attending, serious 'refuser' for months), not the SS we requested.

Heartbroken but expected it. I will find the strength to fight this and we will be getting on with the appeal. But what I am most annoyed about is the shabby, inconsistent muddle of intervention we have received to date. It might never have needed to get into the mess it is. Can't give details as I think it would be too obvious where I am, but it is so frustrating I just cry.

DS has been let down at every turn and it is a disgrace Angry. And the thought of the months and months this will now drag on forSad.

Rant over, sorry, off for some wine now.

Oh dear. I know that even though, you expected it, you still hope that 'they' will do the right thing.

Hope you feel better tomorrow to fight on.

I will probably be in the same position next week but will join you in the wine now.

Oh that is crap, sorry they are stringing out the process for you all. Really hope they change their minds asap.

Enjoy your wine.

Really sorry to hear that things have not gone as hoped. Keep fighting - tomorrow is another day!

I'm so sorry. If it helps, SENDIST tend to bump the school placement appeals up the waiting list a bit. Angry and Sad for you.

Thanks for all your thoughts. It really helps to talk here.

Givemesleep, that is good to know, when I checked on website it gave 5 months as timescale Shock.

Really sorry to hear you having such an awful time. Keep going and try and enjoy your wine tonight. Sad

andperseand since your child is not going to school, I think after you file your appeal, you can call the tribunal and ask to be moved up the list as your child is missing out on school/ not attending school. I know someone who called them up and gave missing education as a reason and they moved it up quite a bit. She won at tribunal too!

Good luck.

andperseand · 16/11/2010 23:03

Oh that is interesting thanks. Do you mean phone them, or can I request this in my appeal form as well do you think?

I stopped with the wine after one glass - decided I need to pace myself over the next few months Grin

Okay, asked and was told that when you submit your initial paperwork, you will receive a date from the tribunal for the hearing. You should then write or email, elaborating why you think it is important for your child that the date is brought forward i.e. missing education. You might want to ask them for confirmation that they have received correspondence and when they think they can inform you of change of date.

I was told this is quite a long process because it goes on a pile before the judge gets to it and decideif it is a good enough reason etc and ask the other party to submit opinion etc. You will then be given a date (or in her case, everyone agreed on a mutually convenient date)

She said it saved her 2 months so although it was stressful, it was worth it.

Sorry, no useful advice but just wanted to send sympathy - we also have a school refuser and are battling for a change of school. I hope you manage to get them to change their mind soon.
