I am just throwing myself out there really! I am 2 years into training to be a children's nurse and I am offering babysitting for children with special needs.

Before I did my nurse training, I worked in respite, and was a carer for my young brother with ASD. I have worked with children with ASD, epilepsy, C-P, downs syndrome and global delay, to name just a few conditions! I've also worked with children as a nanny who do not have additional needs.

I have a real passion to work with children who have special needs and learning disabilities, and I can't wait until I qualify so that I can get payed to do it! In the mean time, I can offer my services as a babysitter. I am CRB checked (have another one due to arrive in the post very soon!), have first aid certificates, administration of diazepam and midazolam, and epipen training.

If there is anything you'd like to know, you can contact me on here (I think) and if not, post on the message and I can give you my email address.

I am based in Leicester City Centre, and I am happy to accept direct payments and do respite care too.

Love Charlie

I would definitely be interested if I lived in your area. I would change your thread title though to mention what you are actually offering. e.g SN babysitter in leicester.

hello

Just a curiosity question really - have you any experience of high functioning asd and an NT sibling (who nevertheless is still quite bouncy)? Do you 'do' siblings as well or do you only take the child with the SN? And how far are you prepared to travel? And how much do you charge (per day? per hour?)

I am asking, really, for the summer holidays, as I will be seeking school hours care for my 2 children and a holiday club simply won't meet his needs this year, as he'll be forced up into the 8 - 12 year group and won't cope socially (socially he functions like a four or five year old). It would only be one or two days a week though.

And yes, I would rejig your thread title so people know you are a SN babysitter - you are a rare species!

Oh, child with ASD also has ADHD as well, and can be very 'on the go'

Hello Colditz!

How do I change the thread title?! I'll have a look around! My brother has autism and ADHD, so I've lived with it forever! And working in respite, I've come across many children with high functioning ASD, combined with ADHD. I'm happy to deal with siblings too! Distance is not really a problem, so long as you're accessable.

My 'summer holiday' consists of 3 weeks somewhere in between July and August, but I am unsure of the dates as yet. If you'd like your child to

go to camp, I could always support him as a 1:1. For the past 3 years I have done the same for a girl with downs syndrome.

You can contact me at: mccullochcj at aol dot com.
