local adventure playground has some funds to improve the facilities on offer. as a mum with sen child I have been asked what I would like to see included. they are talking about putting in a disabled loo and weaving a hut into a weeping willow to create a quiet secluded place.

they also are planning a skateboarding track.

my ds is dyspraxic and has always avoided physical play so I felt ill qualified to advise. I said I would ask you lovely people for your views. any suggestions could help make this lovely space more sen friendly.

ds is also dyspraxic . Things like a balance board on springs, wobbly chain bridge, willow tunnels, hammock type swings, monkey bars but not too high, zip wire. An idea I've seen abroad is a platform with a pulley to haul buckets of things (like fircones) up and a chute to send them back down and a small suspended wooden dinghy whcih can rock.

Lots of physical ideas here. How about a sensory area too - scented and colourful plants, gravel paths, trickling water etc.

Our local one has a water pumpt and a variety of tubes you can stick on it in a big sand pit.

There is also some brilliant swings with harnesses and even a harness zip wire.

Climbing frames with wide walk ways, I always have trouble on narrow ones as ds can't work out the social interaction needed to get past.
