How many hours extra support a week in either small groups or 1-1 are schools expected to provide on SA+

is there a weekly/ termly maximum?

AFAIK SA+ means that the school is getting outside help with your child (eg ASD team or SALT). It doesn't mean anything about how much provision your child is or isn't getting.

School Action Plus is where School Action has not helped the child to make adequate progress, and the school asks for outside advice from the LEA?s support services, or from health or social work professionals. This could be advice from a speech and language therapist on a language programme or an Occupational Therapist?s suggestions or a medical diagnosis and report giving recommendations as to how to work differently with the child in class.

Ooops ( my communication failed then.. It's been a long day !)

ds is on sa+ and has outside agency help.

I'm just wondering at what point of extra hours he might max out.. or if the school can provide as many hours per week as needed on just SA+

( did that make any sense? < wibble>)

AFAIK they can provide as many hours as needed. If they can't afford to provide all the extra help he needs from their budget then they need to apply for a statement...

Right.. I'm pushing for a statement tbh.. But I would like to have the school totally on board.. SENco has recently upped the amount of support given to quite a considerable amount.. But there is still a lot of support needed to be put in place for ds to be able to access an education to the same level as an NT child. ( talking access rather than attainment here).

Got a meeting this week and I was wondering ( before I go in how much support without extra funding the school can be expected to provide).

Think it depends on the area. Our schools have to provide 5 hours from their budget with any extra from LA.
