Hi,
Posted a couple of times about my child and have so much good advice so I would appreciate a bit more (if that's ok...and thank you before hand). I am going into school to look at her records, mainly to see if and how long she as been working at level 1. Previously wrote about the probs with senco fobbing me off and repeatingly saying she is reaching targets on iep's yet 7 out of the 9 ieps nobody as wrote about the Outcome/Evaluation. I have only just found out a month ago about all these iep's (as school as never told or explained to us that she has been on them. Okay..I requested for every copy of previous iep's (shocked that she as had them since starting school)I am now going into look at her records (more ammo for meeting with HT). Do they hold all attainment levels for past years? Will they have a seperate file for SN? What other things should I be looking for? After complaint with HT I am going to LEA and request for assessment myself, that's why I want as much proof of the school's failings as I can. Can't believe that senco told parent partnership officer that she did not feel we should have another meeting then ppo tells about past previous IEP's. So it's me and help with IPSEA now. Anyway thanks for taking time to read this and look forward to all your sound advice everyone. Shall reply in between reading books and other jobs.LET BATTLE COMMENCE

I think there are separate files for Sen and school reports, records etc. Someone more knowledgeable will probably be along soon. Certainly when I asked to look at records I was given all Sen paperwork, letters,IEP's etc but not copies of school reports which I didn't need anyway.

Thanks FTZ I don't want school reports either. Mainly interested in level of working since YR 1 and afterwards. Do they record anything between senco and teachers? Like about her progress and reaching targets on iep's. And Lucinda I think you might be thinking about being told at parents evenings of levels. all past p even they went through all subjects and said making small progress blah de blah. She is taking small steps ect...struggling a little bit in this and that. Her last teacher agreed with me about little progress being made (but changed that when we had meeting with senco). I don't trust them and believe what comes out of their mouths. And what angered me that they blamed the couple of weeks she was absent with meningitis put her behind alot.

I had a few 'incident'logs with ds's records but he has behaviour issues and is fine academically. Have always found IEP's not very accurate and the targets not 'smart'. Also seem to just copy and paste the same things. Have review meeting soon so will be requesting a few changes Wink

Most schools will have the children's levels stored in their computer files. They are required to show the progress of children for OFSTED so you should be able to get this from them if you request it in writing. It may well not be in the paper records you look at. If you look back over school reports the levels she has achieved should also be in these documents. They may try and fob you off so you need to be very specific in what you ask them for. You will need to know what level she was assessed as being at the end of reception and then at the end of each year. If she was assessed as being below level 1 they should have been using something called p scales. You can download these yourself so you can see what they mean. I used lack of progress for my ds who was at special school. They tried to tell me that his progres was very small steps (so small that there ws no movement in levels or sub levels!) We ended up at tribunal and the judge did not like the lack of progress one bit. I have more experience of middle school level so maybe someone who works in primary will be able to give you abit more info about the sort of data they collect in primary. Good luck
