DD invents all sorts of words. For example, a cardigan that ties with a bow instead of having buttons, or just a few buttons, bolero-style is a "ginsemund". Actually it has become the family word for such a thing as I don't believe there is a specific word for it! There were loads more but they are being lost as her language improves Grin
Love the trucks and the fish fingers!!

DS has a velvety type shirt and it was covered in fluff he asked me to sand it.

signandsay · 27/10/2010 09:40

Ds signs 'clapping blowing cake' for birthday cake,

and my dad described my uncle who has menieres disease as having' that thing with his ears, you know, meringue'

now have image of uncle with a meringue stuck on each ear, Grin

madmouse you reminded me of my DS - pointing to cars out of the window. He used to add the word 'one' before his version of the word 'car'. It's a delight to hear him shout out 'one car, one car, one car' at a traffic jam with the windows down! [hgrin]

woolytree · 27/10/2010 09:56

My DD called rice crispies boobies for ages. Hmm

She also thinks anything broken can be fixed with sticky tape, by daddy. [hsmile]

madsadlibrarian · 27/10/2010 10:56

mine loved Hello Kitty .. only the best he could manage for ages was "Hello Titty"- fine indoors as everything he said was mangled, so you didn't particularly notice - shouting out in a shop however....Grin

chachaheels234 · 27/10/2010 11:23

when my son was younger he used to say what he saw, so he would call prawn crackers snow crisps and kitkat's red cats

Taysh1109 · 27/10/2010 13:15

DD hasn't learned to talk yet, but she does babble endlessly. She makes some sounds I'm fairly sure have never been said before! The other day she was "chatting" away to me and DP and in the middle of it all she suddenly came out with "Obama"!! She's going to be a genius. She'll have a degree in American politics by the age of 10!

yoshysmum · 27/10/2010 16:53

Love them all!

I remember my ds shouting f* you mammy, for no reason at all, in the outpatients at the hospital. Cue one very embarrassed mum and one very puzzled child. he did not understand what he had done wrong and had picked it up from a friend of his.

Dd3 who sings lyrics over and over keeps singing that
" I want to be a millionaire, so freaking bad"
omg do we keep getting looks[hgrin].
and
On monday when we were a day early for an appointment she was not impressed and shouted " Well don't expect me to come again tomorrow, I don't need to come , theres nothing wrong with me" really loudly across the clinic.LOL. It gave the health visitors something to smile about[hgrin].

Taysh1109 · 27/10/2010 20:13

Also, an autistic young man I used to know ... we had taken him to a hospital check up appointment and were sat in a very busy waiting room... now this particular young man used to really struggle with his pro-nouns, so he used to confuse I, you, me, we, they, him etc all the time, but he was very verbal and, very chatty, and very loud!!! So at this point he was chatting away to us and he suddenly said "ohhhhhh Taysh1109... You TRUMPED! Oh dear! It smells disgusting!". Well... I was mortified!! As of course it was in fact him who had trumped, not me... but that's not what the other 68 people in the waiting room thought!!! LOL

janpa · 27/10/2010 21:04

DD has verbal dyspraxia so anything's possible. Keeps talking about 'my arm' which somehow comes out as 'my arrrrr.....se' and when she wants the straps undone on her baby's buggy she calls them craps. However, if your DS has DVD, you'll know that both of those examples are cause for celebration for how much of the word is recognisable! Smile

yoshysmum · 27/10/2010 21:11

Ds is awaiting dx at the moment, possible AS and Dyspraxia. But hooray for little janpa well done. lol at snow crisps and red catSmile

my son who has learning difficulties, dyspraxia and language disorder has always come out with some really funny things.yesterday he was telling me about his friends parents had to break the ice on the pond in the garden, remove the fish and got his friend to climb in and crush the ice with his wellies. he came out with "i would never do that far to cold, i would use a spoon" i roared with laughter then explained to him what he said, he giggled like crazy then came out with "mum you are so funny"

DS (8 and AS) went on a class trip to the town centre. He hated every minute of it and when he came home, took a business card out of his lunchbag. He said he had found it on the pavement and kept it to show me.

It read, "Earn £50 to £150 per week - Part Time. Flexible hours to suit."

DS said, "Mummy, you know you can't go to work because DD won't go to school, I thought you could earn some money this way"! (DD is 13,AS and school phobic).

Who says AS children are not good with empathy!

This business card has pride of place on my kitchen window sill!
