The past month or so has been very stressful in the chickens house, many hospital appointments, sorting out statementing & then to top it all off I am being made redundant, from a job I love,at Christmas.Sad
Have managed to cope quite well, but over the past week have a constant headache,no appetite, cannot shut my mind off IYKWIM.
I do not feel depressed just don't feel rightConfused
Any of you taken St John's Wort or what other remedies can you recommend, cannot get an appointment with the doctor I prefer until 15th Nov,so I am looking for other ways of dealing with it all. Thanks!!

St. John's Wort has a decent, if not extraordinary evidence base for mild/moderate depression but little to recommend it in stress/anxiety.

However, there are a whole bunch of non-drug based therapies that have demonstrated success in stress reduction.

Meditation.
Autogenic therapy.
Cognitive Therapy.
Exercise.
Progressive Relaxation.

All are pretty safe as well.

The only downside is that there is very little standardisation in these fields so there will be a lot of variation in quality from practice to practice.

Maybe you can look for some local recommendations.

I used to take vitamin B complex from Sainsbury's over the winter and spring each year for several years.

I'd suggest comforting things which include water so you don't get dehydrated. That might help the headache. I take liquid calpol or nurofen for headaches when they are still there when I wake up in the morning.

If I'm overwhelmed I curl up on the sofa with a hot water bottle and duvet. Little tiny snacks of sugary and salty things to keep my body and mind supplied with the basic chemicals.

I make different drinks like herbal teas with honey in or hot ribena. I try to use my favourite mugs or glasses, all to help me feel cared for and special.

It's a sort of hibernation process in between rushing about dealing with the stressy stuff.

Calming tv helps me too, Bargain Hunt type programmes which are predictable and upbeat.

Rescue Remedy? It works for some people...

I second Rescue Remedy. It used to dissolve the knot in my stomach when things were mega stressful.

I always have some in my bag
