How old is she?

Chocol8 · 13/09/2005 17:42

Apologies for crap memory Fio - how old is your dd?

There was a thread on the Health section about how children lose their teeth early/late if that's any help?

Could it be Peter Andre !

Fio2 · 13/09/2005 17:45

she is almost 6. She lost her bottom two before her fifth birthday and she has second teeth in place. then a few weeks ago i noticed one her front teeth looked like it was falling out and now the other front tooth has fell out but not the crokked one

well she looks well! plus i dont feel she is old enough

My niece is 6 and lost her 2 front teeth a couple of months ago. Looks really cute

Distel · 13/09/2005 18:01

ds is 6 andhasn't lost any. Lots of his class have thoigh

Chocol8 · 13/09/2005 18:04

Ds lost his front teeth when he was 6 - he is 8 next week and has only lost his bottom two teeth too - he does look strange. The dentist said that his teeth look like they're cemented in to his gums!

foxinsocks · 13/09/2005 18:05

have done some research on this because dd is very annoyed that she hasn't lost any (and most of her class have!). Dd is 5, I would say around a third of her class lost a tooth last school year (in reception) and now in yr 1, I would say that percentage is up to about half.

Apparently, it's to do with when your first teeth came in (according to an article in the magazine in the dentist!) - if your first teeth came in early, they are more likely to fall out earlier (and vice versa with late first teeth).

Distel · 13/09/2005 18:08

I don't believe it is anything to do with when they first came through as ds had 2 teeth by the tim ehe was 3.5 months.

foxinsocks · 13/09/2005 18:10

I wouldn't know as we haven't lost any yet (and I can't really remember exactly when they first came through anyway).

The article was written in the context that children seem to be losing their teeth earlier than many decades ago (whenever the research was done, can't quite remember!).

Distel · 13/09/2005 18:12

Actually, he was about 4.5 months. He was born on Sept 5th and had his bottom 2 teeth by christmas.

Fio2 · 13/09/2005 18:12

she didnt have any teeth when she was 1 year old

I seem to remember we had our first tooth at around 4.5 months (but it was a fang strangely).

So basically, that article in the dentist's was complete bollocks - either that, or you 2 are exceptions to the rule!!

Fio2 · 13/09/2005 19:43

haha!

she looks so odd though, wish the other crooked one would fall out now

Well that tooth fairy must be keeping you poor Fio

Dingle · 13/09/2005 20:10

Ah, bless her Fio.

Funny enough DS lost his 1st tooth on Sunday, had been hanging out for what seemed ages and the new tooth already pushing through the gum. He was drinking a smoothie that I had just blended. First I thought he was moaning about the texture, then I saw this tiny little white tooth in the palm of his hand.
Later he ask if I could make that smoothie next time he had a loose tooth! I do hope he wasn't implying it was my drink that knocked it out.

lol dingle, you werent adding brandy to it were you? we must must must meet up again soon!
