just as the title says really, my ds is nearly 7 he got dx with adhd when he was 4. i also have 2 other ds 3yrs and 2yrs, i would like to go out to work at some stage but dont really want them split up for child care. but my biggest concern is who would be able to cope with my eldest esp if he goes into distruction mode or major meltdown. have you ever found any one that can look after your dc as well as you can???

It completely depends on teh choild tbh.

DS3 and ds1 have autism; within a few phone calls we found a lovely CM who has an older asd chidl herself and was brilliant with ds3.

We've never managed to find anyone we could put ds1 with however, but he sin;t good with kids full stop.

There's also teh option of a Nanny, and you can get specilaist ones albeit at a cost of course.

Like Gideonsmum say's it depends on the child, I worked before I had ds3 and ds2 went to after school and breakfast club with no problems as it is run by the school they where fully aware of his problems. DS3 however is a different matter, he has asd sld and adhd, so very difficult.

I used a childminder at first until ds1 was 5. He then became too difficult and he was also getting very anxious about going there so we switched to a carer from an agency at home. After a fight we got some funding from social acre for this, but it was only after school by then of course. We couldn't ahve used them if it was longer, as it was too expensive.

We have juggled my hours and dp's (shifts), our family have also helped. I have only worked p/t since having ds2 and my annual leave is used up during school holidays. All my dc's are now at school and my p/t hours mean that I can leave them off and pick them up (although ds2 asd/adhd has a bus).

I wouldn't have been able to get a childminder to look after ds2, I had the local list and considered it at one point but it just wasn't feasible.
