My little girl is 5 she was born with Downs Syndrome - she has just worked out how to climb the baby gate at her bedroom door (its taller than the usual ones) This is scary - her room is next to where the landing bannister is and she was trying to get over that too!!!! any ideas for keeping little houdini children safe in their rooms at night ?? I know we cant lock the door from the outside but does anyone know if you can buy taller gates ????? thanks :-)

will she sleep with the door closed? if so fix some jingle bells to the door handle and if she trys to open the door then they will jingle and you should be alerted. Will not work if she is persistant escapee, but works for peace of mind for occasional wandering.

She can open the door and she is a persistent escapee with no comprehension of danger so she has to be secure in her room at all times. We've just put on of the travel/fabric gates above the other one as a temporary measure but now we can't close the door..

could you get a carpenter in to make an extra tall bespoke gate? probably very costly but sounds as if you need something.
