Its getting so difficult to buy for him because his interests are so limited as well as his understanding and capabilities. He loves his trampoline, vtech alphabet desk, colour doodle drawing thing and likes building blocks and duplo. Also likes his toy piano but not as much as other things. We have tried sensory toys with varying success.

Any ideas?

Would he like a pet?

thanks loads of good suggestions.

Ds already has a bilibo which he likes form time to time.

The mosaics by numbers looks good but Im not sure Ds will understand the number relating to a colour thing. he has a button board that he likes to make patterns from not so much the pictures though.

He has no interest in animals, soft toys or anything that relates to real life or role play. He also still struggles with cause and effect so finds computers difficult unless they are touch screen.

Ds loves to draw at the moment so the spiral art thing might be a good idea.

The giant piano looks good but an expensive mistake if Ds doesn't like it.

Maybe I should take Ds to Hamleys or similar and see what he is drawn to.

Last year I bought something that someone on here suggested (I think it was Marne), its a drawing board which you put paper on when you draw it makes music. The faster you draw the faster the music goes. My DS loves it!

I will look at the name of it in the morning :)

Thanks for the tip about the bilbo - I've just ordered one for ds' xmas. He is always taking the washing basket to spin in but this should be more fun. He keeps saying 'boat boat' too so maybe a glimmer of imagination ? He loves the colour orange too so even better that they do them in orange.

Does mini star have an a-z slot in letter board ? They are great. I don't really know how much ds recognises letters but he can match them all by shape.

staryeyed · 21/10/2010 11:31

That sounds good Deadly if you could find the name.

DO you have a link for the a-z letter board willow?

Stary, if he likes drawing what about a set of oil pastels (similar to crayons but much more vivid colour) they look fab on black paper - you can get little artists sketch books full of black paper, our lot love this. Normally get them in Easons. V good for de-stressing! x

Hi No - I got mine in Mothercare a long time ago but if you google toy letterboard a-z then a lot of options should come up

staryeyed · 22/10/2010 20:39

willow do you mean a wooden puzzle type thing. I cant seem to find anything else when I search.

Is this the colouring/music thing?

Does he like listening to music or does he prefer making it? If he likes listening then a personal CD player (the ELC ones work both with and without headphones) might work?

Just bumping this to see if anyone has any more ideas. Smile
