Despite sitting here up to my eyes in it, im smiling at the conversation i had with ds last night.

Ds was telling me has a 'happy thought' which he thinks of when he is sad. His thought is of me and him riding on unicorns in the sky surrounded by rainbows and pretty things.

He then adds he is fed up of riding on unicorns and wants to ride on something else.

I suggest perhaps we could ride on dolphins, he replied "dont be silly dolphins cant fly!" I said perhaps we could be under the sea. He replied "we would drown, silly!"

So much for anyone else imagination but his!

What keeps you going and inspires you to carry on?

Ds1 got up this morning and made himself some porridge in the microwave, despite never having been taught to do so. He read the instructions on the box, and logic did the rest.

he is 7, with aspergers and adhd, and I am VERY proud of him.

I have also told him to wake me up before he does anything like that again Grin

Claw for some reason I read that it was your DH thinking of unicorns:o

my silly thing that makes me happy is if I make a loose fist all of my dc's ( including my nearly 16 year old ds1) will race up and put their noses in the hole that my thumb and forefinger make.!
It's weird .. They have all just done it ..and I'm not quite sure why :o

colditz · 20/10/2010 13:37

cupcake that's so funny!

TheArsenicCupCake · 20/10/2010 13:41

Strange children I tell you :o!

I don't ask or tell them to do this.. And if for some reason I have made a loose fist ( or am just holding my hand that way).. And there is a dc near me.. I end up with a cute little nose in my hand!

What keeps me going is knowing how far they've come.I don't compare them to their peers just to where they started and where they are now always makes me feel better Grin
Knowing that twice a day ds allows me to kiss the top of his head when he can't bear to be touched makes it worthwhile.
Seeing the state of dd's bedroom floor makes me smile because it took a long time to get her to look in boxes or open drawers. Ok it drives me mad having to pick it all up again but she is interested enough now to have a look.

Grin at dh thinking of unicorns, no he is definitely away with the fairy's!

Ds often feels really down, particularly when in bed of a night and then cant get to sleep with all his little worries in his head. So we have think a 'happy thought' to help you sleep, his is always the unicorn one! I feel sorry for the unicorn that is carrying my fat arse!

Are you ever tempted to steal a cute nose and pretend your thumb is their nose? Ds hates this, he thinks you really have it!

loved cup cakes nose thing. lion game is making me laugh at the moment, (I have to sing 'tum te tum te tum' and ds pretends to be lion creeping up on me, he then goes 'ROOAARRRR' I then have to be frightened and say 'a lion!!!!')

usually at home but yesterday he asked for it by signing 'again' in the street, I asked 'again what?' he signed 'lion' so we played it walking along the street, I'm sure we looked very funny, but it made us both laugh

TheArsenicCupCake · 20/10/2010 18:35

I tried stealing a nose before we knew ds had any issues... he totally freaked! ( and I have never stolen a nose since with any other child!)

I love it when I get to play daft games in public and I don't give two hoots if I look funny...:)

I still do the ds hiding behind my back panto stylee.. On a regular basis.. But these days he has to duck because he is as tall as I am ( he's very nearly almost 12 ).
So don't even think about worrying about looking funny... Just enjoy it :)

Thanks for that, we went out for walk while the tyres were being put on the car, (waiting room had two doors, irresistable) and ended up in alley bewtween two terrace houses, with ds shouting to hear the echo, and playing the lion game, am practicing saying to self 'well if others have a problem it is their problem, not mine'

Was Just reading your message and re-read mine, must have murmoured 'tum te tum' as ds was over quick as a shot for a quick lion game before bed.

It makes grampy crease up too, and he can play it without having to use any signs, Wink so feels a bit more confident (Grampy not ds!)

5andahead · 20/10/2010 19:14

Mine atm is two things. Ds2 coming up to me every so oten to shake my hand and say how do you do, and DS3 who is 2 next month pretending to do tae kwon do, it's so cute.

Colditz, I'd be proud of my DS if he made himself breakfast a well. Well done to your DS.

DS said yesterday... mummy wou have got spots. wou can't go to work, wou will have to stay at home in bed. When I looked in the mirror, he was right, I had a shocking zit, but I love the idea of staying home from work because of it.....
and then he said, I will stay home from school to look after wou. and he LOVES school. I nearly cried I was so touched.

Claw3 · 20/10/2010 22:02
