DS1 doesn't walk on tip-toes but does run on them. He falls over alot and his class teacher thinks he needs to be referred somewhere. We are seeing community paed tomorrow but not sure what to ask for, would it be physio? or what they can even do?

He has also fallen at least 3 times from standing, 1 minute fine next splat on the floor (twice at school, once when with me). Not sure if this is related though Confused

Probably physio - to check his muscle tone etc. Depends if a physical thing like tight achilles or neurological as to treatment.

Has he just started doing it and is the falling over a recent thing? Could be a growth spurt if so as can tighten muscles.

DD also runs on tiptoe with feet turned in - she has hypermobility and low tone in her trunk so stiffens her leg muscles to help her to run (looks rather odd but she manages it somehow!).

Good luck with your comm paed appt...

ah Thank you! He has really shot up recently, particularly in his legs so what you say makes a lot of sense. He has always been a faller, and the OT who did his sensory assessment mentioned low tone and that he was a "bendy boy" so probably the combination of all that has lead to the excessive amounts of falling. I'll ask for a physio referral as his teacher is really concerned about it (more so than his complete lack of social interaction Hmm)
