My DDs epilepsy is covered mainly under the health part of her statement. Bascially extra supervision, although she has a high level anyway, and what happens if she does fit, such as her medication and aftercare etc is all on a list at school, so everyone dealing with her knows how tio administer her medication. DD is lucky in a way as the ASD unit she is in has a fanbulous sensory room, which she goes to if she ever "sees fairies" as she puts it, or starts acting any different.

We just talked to the school nurse and the epilepsy charity Epilepsy Action. Sometimes you may be allocated an Epilepsy nurse at the hospital clinic and they may be able to help as well.
Although my dd has epilepsy (was diagnosed aged 3) she does not have a Statement as there are no other learning needs. She is on the list of Children with /Additional Medical Needs though. All she needs is medication to be given in school and an emergency care plan passed to all staff in case a seizure happens at school.
When she was first diagnosed dd did seem to have development delay and problems with speech but this did improve when medication level was correct and seizures were better controlled.
Hope this helps.
