dd is staying at a friends house and ds has been on 2 of his ritualistic countryside drives in hopes we will pick her up on the way there or back, something we have done before, infact most nights, if she's not already in the house or in the car with us.
He's now in the car still wanting to go for another drive!!

I have no advice.. As I am just quite cruel and I tell ds2 when the escapee is returning and tell him to make the most of it.

:)

devientenigma · 16/10/2010 21:21

haha, I wish I could...he goes so out of control he doesn't listen, then he's not meant to be kicking off so much due to the cardiologist saying he's not to get too stressed!! So what else can I do??
The way I have to do it for my ds (as instructed by the behaviour team) is to look as if he's in control while you get him to do what you want him to do!! Unfortunatly if it's not on his agenda!!!!
Thanks anyway x

I only have the one! But is there a treat that you could get him used to having/ doing when she's out so he associates her being out with something good, iyswim?

roundthebend4 · 17/10/2010 06:03

Hmm not sure level of his understanding or if works a chart where he can cross the hours of in blocks

devientenigma · 17/10/2010 08:19

Good ideas which I will try next time. She's already home!! Understanding is around 2-3yo...he's nearly 10.

hmm how is he at matching things , could write what time dd is expected home and for him to match whats on bit of paper with clock so he can tell you shes due home , would give him slight elerment of control

devientenigma · 17/10/2010 08:26

Thanks for that, I don't think he would make the connection between the clock and the number and he doesn't recognise/visually know numbers as yet lol. However another good idea!!

roundthebend4 · 17/10/2010 08:45

hmm was thinking more digatl numbers and just so there the same as his bit of paper

devientenigma · 17/10/2010 08:54

lol, he mixes up the numbers for letters e.g 8=B, see the resemblance!! You know I don't even think I have a digital clock in the house except on my cooker but the kitchen is out of bounds to him!! Still a good idea even if he is clock watching all night x

hmmor what about one of those clocks wher ethe face is sleeping and you set the time for it to wake up would not need to recognise numbers .Though guess will still mean he keeps looking at

devientenigma · 17/10/2010 08:57

on ds you choose what time they wake up and reading the reviews seems can on this one

We showed him the demo of Moon with stars countdown and how "Mr Sunshine" would appear when it was "morning" - we optimistically chose 7am. From the first day it worked - I must say I was amazed, he did wake me at 5.30 to tell me the moon was still there for a couple of days.

google toddler training clocks on Amazon

roundthebend4 · 17/10/2010 09:37

reADING THE REVIEWS YES YOU CAN DECIDE WHEN THE SUN COMES UP

we have a sleep trainer clock for the dds too - well, more of a "please don't wake me before X time clock"!

we have one where the rabbit is asleep in bed at night time, and then skipping about in the sunshine once it is morning.

worked very well for the dds initially, but has slipped a bit now. must try to get it back on track...

we combined with a reward, so they got a choc button if they stayed inside their bedroom until the rabbit wakes up (barring emergencies, obviously) - was very effective, at a time when dd1's sleep had gone absolutely haywire!
