LD nurse came out today, and observed DD1 (4.9, brain malformation, attends special school) climbing quite unrelentlessly.

We have always known she was hyperactive, and this is documented throughout reports. However, I suspect that the LD nurse maybe thought that some of it was down to lack of stimulation/overstimulation etc, at home Confused.

We have been seeing him for around a year, and during that time, DD1 has been through the SA process, had reports stating 1:1, danger to self, etc. DD1 has just been uprated to HRC/HRM with DLA, from HRC no Mobility.

Today, he asked if we had ever done the connors rating scale. We haven't. He wants to observe her in her special school to see if 'there are any things they do with her that you could do' and 'if she is the same at school as at home'

read: "to see if it's all your fault!"

We are consistent and firm at home. Her 2 younger sisters are coming on beautifully as they develop, and preschool have no concerns whatsoever with the 3 year old. Her 18 month old sister will sit nicely in a group situation, sing songs, etc., and sit nicely to read a book etc.

Does anyone have experience? What happens if school environment helps to calm her slightly, would the ADD/ADHD traits still be confirmed? ie. is it more than bouncing off the walls that they look for?

we have done the connors twice, it has four areas it looks at, iirc attention, hyperactivity, oppositional, and impulsivity.

it asks questions and you answer if child does it somewhat usually or never -that kind of thing. some if the questions are a bit american and for older kids.

if you fill it in then on the back is the guide, you are not supposed to see this but if you are careful and transcribe your answers onto another peice of paper you can work out the scores for you answers, you need to peek inside the joined up bit. i found this really helpful as my pead never told me the scores.

they will also sent one to school as be dx adhd child has to have problems in two settings.

Thanks for all that Smile

She ticks quite a few boxes there, but some of them seem so 'old' for her stage. How does that affect the outcome?

I think they tailor the questions to age - I know they do with ADOS so I suspect they'd have to do something similar with Connors.
