Lougle DLA decision

I phoned today, as it was 8 weeks after my claim pack went in, and the nice lady on the phone said that DD1 has been uprated to HRC/HRM Smile

Very relieved, although will possibly ask for reconsideration as it only starts on her birthday, not right away.

Great advice on here and the Decision Makers' Guide also.

Smile brilliant.

streakybacon · 11/10/2010 10:19

Well done. I know you've been worried about this so I'm sure it will come as a relief. Glad the waiting is over for you Smile

genieinabottle · 11/10/2010 10:20

For DS we are getting MRC. And the week after his 5th b/day he will get LRM.
I'm pleased with that as i feel it is a fair decision, it was the first time we applied.

Star Blush how much things can change in such a (relatively) short time.

Looking back, with all the knowledge I have gained on this wonderful board, how did I not know? But I truly didn't.

D'yknow, if someone wrote my OP on that thread there would be alarm bells ringing from the second line. I would be saying 'developmental paed', etc.

I am so glad that the kind posters on this board, who gave honest but gentle answers, did so. They saved DD1 from slipping through the net.

So happy for you.

ThePumpkinofDoomandTotalChaos · 11/10/2010 18:09

just looked back at your thread, I was very innocent two years ago, saying - but my DS never had 1-1 at nursery - whereas in actual fact because Ds was passive nursery were blatantly too idle to bother getting funding for 1-1.

Lougle · 11/10/2010 19:10

I know, it is just amazing how we are cultured to down play everything, stiff british upper lip.

I think we are brought up to give respect to certain professions - without them earning respect. until you have a circumstance in which you call their 'professional' opinion into question, we all seem to have blind faith. Being older with friends and family in 'professions' - you realise very quickly that they are prone to spout b***ks as much as anyone else - it's just they are so much more practised at it Wink

Not just innocent, - vulnerable Sad

I got the decision letter today. Interestingly, they have decided that DD1 is "virtually unable to walk, given consideration of the speed manner and distance walked before severe discomfort." rather than SMI + behavioural route.

I agree, I think that compared to an almost 5 year old, she is not a safe walker at all. But I thought my submission, although not categorical, was clearly focussed towards SMI + behaviour route. I even included the R(DLA)/100 document.

Ho Hum.

Very interesting.

I always thought that DS' particular impairments veered more towards the virtually unable to walk because well, he just can't walk outside of the house really. He doesn't move at all unless he is running under a bus.

I saw a child aged about 18 months today toddling along several metres behind his mother who was pushing a pram with a small baby in it. I see groups of people like this all the time in town or along busy roads.

But the DLA people think that most parents need to use pushchairs for children aged 3.5 apparently...
