My ds started secondary school in September. We finally, after 6 years got someone to liosten this year and he was diagnosed with inattentive adhd, ocd, eating disorders, depression.

He is struggling with various things and I am not really sure what help I can ask for him, in fact from the comments he is getting in his book almost daily (talkative, attention lacking) I am not sure they know of his problems.

I do not want him to get away with stuff, only want him to be understood.

Also he is on a non stimulant strattera, does anyone have any knowledge of this? should he be on a stimulant drug?

I am really struggling with his behaviour and need to get something done

thanks for any help

Go into the school and ask for a meeting with his form tutor, and their SEN officer.

he should not be penalised for having a learning difficulty (which ADHD is - if children with ADHD could somehow shake it off, they would learn with much more ease!)

i hope someone can give you advice on the medication.

My DS took strattera for ADHD for a while. It is just as effective as the other medications, but if there is no obvious change in your DS's behaviour tell his consultant and ask if his meds can be checked/ changed.

We went through the whole of secondary school with every new teacher seemingly unaware of DS's problems. It was very frustrating.

All you can do is go and see the SENCO and discuss with her what strategies they have put in place, and the fact that the teachers don't seem to be aware.

thank you, I have emailed the school and asked for a meeting.

The trouble I have is all through Juniors before he was diagnosed I was labelled the over anxious mother and it had an affect on ds schooling. I dont want that again
