While doing a bit of filming for the RNIB (went really well, client v. happy which is great), talking to my mate when we popped to the loo, and we got talking about the charity, her sister who is also VI, and my sight and how it's affected uni etc. She said, "You know, you're an inspiration really, some people who have a disability use it as an excuse to do no work, but you try really hard at everything and haven't let it hold you back, it's great." OK, i am para-phrasing here because I can't remember word for word what she said, I just know inspiration was in there somewhere!
I dunno, it feels weird, hearing that from someone I've known for three years, no one's ever called me that before. Not sure how I feel either, I don't see myself as an inspiration, I'm just getting on with my life, using what I've been given etc. Anyone else had this?
Oh, and, they're paying me £50 for the job, half of it is being donated to the RNIB, because they do some amazing work, no one else at the show was being paid their normal wage, so £25 will cover the train fares, and I want to give something back to a charity who I might need in the future :)
