Finally we seem to be getting somewhere!

Ds has been referred to CASBAT and also to a special needs nursery session which runs in the afternoons at a local primary school.

He starts school next september so I'm optimistic now that things may be a little clearer by then (that we will be able to better explain to school his issues in order to make sure he gets the support he needs)

So glad to read this.

Re your second para though, I would seriously consider writing NOW to the LEA requesting a Statement of special needs on your son's behalf. A statement is legally binding; anything else that you get offered is not. Statements as well can take six motnhs to set up; if your son goes into school with a Statement it may well save him and you an awful lot of hassle. They will be fully aware of his needs (or should be) if there is a Statement in place.

www.ipsea.org.uk is a good website re the whole statementing process.

Thankyou both, yes I need to get onto sorting the statement now. Even the little that has happened to day is a milestone, we have had NOTHING so far, so I'm pleased to at least have had someone somewhere recognise his difficulties.
