SALT assessment needed: what triggers one?

DS has ADHD plus verbal dx probable hfa plus my lingering suspicions re auditory processing disorder (tho of course that may 'just' be the asd). Ds can't tolerate loud or unexpected sounds. Ed psych said don't bother asking neuro-paed for salt ax as she'll do it 'if school and you still have concerns' (sounds like b*s to me & I'd trust the NHS over the LA anyday).

Borderline community audiology results that are probably spurious but possibly a bit of intermittent glue ear. Seeing hearing specialist next week. My hopes for the appt are a decent audiogram, tests for hearing oversensitivity and a SALT referral to establish his receptive language baseline. And her opinion about APD of course.

Ideas welcome about how to make sure we don't waste the appt on glue ear nonsense. I'm poor at explaining concerns and making sure they're received, particularly when I get all frustrated cos I think I know what the plan should be

that's the problem... too old. Otherwise we'd sneak through via the SALT sure start drop-in.

You can self refer - check out your local PCT website, some SALTs have drop in clinics in some areas.
