Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Should I or shouldn't I?

Quick name change so as not to "out" myself.

Anybody on these boards had dealing with RBWM for statementing? How independent did you find the Parent Partnership service?

Would agree with Starlight here. I would always seek fully independent advice from organisations like for example IPSEA, SOS;SEN and or ACE to name but three.

I personally would not touch the PP in my area of EssexLand with a long pole, particularly as they work out of the same building!.

Thanks as always ladies, I'll attend the meeting with my eyes wide open.

Will try giving one of those organisations a call next week. I know they are overwhlemed with enquiries and hard to reach sometimes. Perserverance is the key!

Parent partnership in Hackney were very helpful: even if you wanted to take a second opinion about some matters, they were a great source of information about timescales, who to contact, procedures etc and I'm sure they helped smooth DS's through so he got it in time to affect his school offer.
