We have had to hire a private OT as the NHS wont see DS2 - apparently they are psychic and they can tell all his problems are sensory.

I dont believe this and was wondering if we do get a statement or DS - am going to apply very soon, can a NHS OT be added in?

They can tell all his problems are sensory.....how bizarre of them, this is why he needs OT input!

If you can prove a need for something, the NHS have to supply or fund. Admittedly easier said than done, but not impossible.

For example my own ds had sensory trained OT in previous borough, new borough dont have sensory trained OT so would fund old borough to continue the service.

Thanks - thats great to hear.

Basically the head of OT said that they couldnt work with children with sensory problems because they just dont have the therapists. They also said that as resources are so stretched they have to pick and choose thier cases very carefully Hmm Angry

I am a teacher and as a parent of a sen child I think statements are fab. Teachers of statemented children are policed to make sure they are following recommendations
