DLA Renewal

Just popped through the door unexpectedly. The current award lasts til next February though so don't need to do it right away. We are currently on middle rate DLA - dx is autism. The first award was made at age 4 years and he will be 7 next March. He has developed more speech and more social skills since then and is now toilet trained (never had sleep or food issues) but obviously is not anywhere near NT level for age and still needs lots of help to learn anything. What is the best way to approach this ?

They usually send the renewal pack 6 months before renewal is due.

DS2 had changed about the same when he had his renewal, but still needs help with other things, and his award didn't change, it was awarded for 5 years as well.

Is there a Cash for Kids near you? They sent someone out to help me fill out the forms, it was a great help.

Yes -that's my concern too - that it will be a reverse auction of DS and his abilities. I will have to really hammer home how delayed/disabled he is when really I just want to move on and enjoy his actual development. I see from the notes that I am advised to do it sooner rather than later to allow time for processing. I will definitely pace myself and do a page at a day and take lessons from ds in repetitive communication !
