Planning/preparation time built into statement

Currently re-writing dd2's proposed amended statement in readiness for meeting with LEA.

Want to get some TA time into it for planning, preparation of resources for differentiation etc. Has anyone managed to get this into the statement, and if so, how did you word it/how much time is reasonable to ask? Any experiences?

Yep, reads something like '5 additional hours to be used for planning, preparation, differentiation purposes etc. etc.'

Was a cheap solution for LA as opposed to special school an hour away with taxi and escort!

Managed to get it because school claimed couldn't meet his needs as it proved to be an intolerable strain on staffing and resources without it.

Thanks!

Will try and get school's take on it too. I can really see it's going to become more and more of an issue - she's only 3 weeks into Reception and already I can see things dragging because her 1:1 TA hasn't had time to get things organised - and dd2's only in half days at the mo. Can't imagine the amount of preparation that will be needed as she moves up the school...

When we originally requested a statement we had a private assessor who suggested full time 1:1 with snTA for all school hours + 5 hours a week preparation time from a specialised teacher to plan and differentiate his work. (Ds did not get it as went to sn school).

Thanks.

Dd2 currently has fulltime 1:1 for the half days and 3 lunches she is in school for (just started Reception). We are currently fighting for fulltime 1:1 for the rest of the day. So any preparation time would have to be before/after the school day or done in a job share, which I guess is not going to be popular with the school.

We don't have any specialist teachers here for Downs syndrome, and it is really hard to gauge what will be necessary or appropriate to ask for. Can't find anyone else locally who has tried for this.
