It dawned on me today that not only does ds2 still echo lots.. But he answers the tv back.. And not really in an average old man way..

Person on telly: would you like to see that?
Ds2 " yes"

this happens lots and lots

Do your lot do this too?

( I'll be back in a bit ready for you to say no lol.. Just going to charge my phone)

Yep!
So your not alone!

Claw3 · 23/09/2010 20:04

Ds used to do this when he watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but in all fairness they did ask questions ie "shall we use the blue one or the red one?" ds would be shouting out "the red one, the red one"

When/if we watch X factor, he likes to shout out giving the performers a yes or no, as if he has the power to put them through to the next round!

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 21:21

It makes watching tv really difficult with the constant jabbering and answering.. it's mad! :) but I'm glad I'm not alone..
You know I knew he always used to do it.. But it dawned on me he still does!

My DD does it too...mad about mickey. :) But the TV is her friend. :)

She immitates the sounds and movements of characters in Toy Story too and cries when films end. She also re enacts episodes from TV/Film if I turn it off. Hmm

My dd3 does it too, she doesn't seem to know that the people on the telly can't hear her, she often ends up shouting at itGrin, especially xfactor.
You're definatly not aloneGrin.

Claw3 · 23/09/2010 21:59

Oh yeah, ds like to repeat adverts, do you remember the 'Talk to Frank' adverts for drug abuse. Ds would say "oh great a bleeding nostril" and "i picked up the phone and talked to Frank" in a funny voice. Not quite Disney Grin

He also talks to the dog and answers for him too!

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 22:00

Indeed... Been meaning to ask you.. How the wobble cushion going ( crosses fingers).

Glad I'm not alone.. I wonder if it's got something to do with not internalizing thoughts?

sumum · 23/09/2010 22:02

Blush I do it myself, I even say 'goodnight' to the news reader.

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 22:04

Claw.. :o that made me giggle!

OP posts:
TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 22:05

I wonder how it would be if the rest of the world didnt care about talking to objects, or how they looked and you could wear your trousers inside out, hitched up to your chest with wellies in the summer or didnt worry about the social trivial small talk, like saying hello or goodbye or just walked away if someone was boring you. We all said exactly what was on our minds without any embarrassment and told the truth.

On second thoughts, it would probably cause a riot!

woolytree · 23/09/2010 22:21

Have you seen the film 'The invention of Lying'? I watched it the other day it reminded me of how DD sees the world...shed believe anything I said. :) ...I have told her if we blow the red man at the traffic light hard enough the green man will come on! ...it works! Grin

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 22:25

Claw dh and I have often wondered such things.. Usually after ds2 has had a bit of a day of it.
:)
one day I really am going to have a whole day where I externalize everything just to see what happens :o

particularly the Imparting of great knowledge about my special interest, stopping abruptly and wandering off when I'm done.
And talking to people and suddenly going upside down because I just want to. :)

Claw3 · 23/09/2010 22:27

LOL havent seen the film, but ds is very much the same.

Ds asked older ds what would happen if he fed the dog uncooked pizza dough. Ds told him the dog would explode. Ds came running to me crying as he had already fed the dog uncooked pizza dough!

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 22:29

Lol wooley :)

I have seen it ( well I saw the beginning and the credits.. I may have dozed off in the middle).

I love the fact that ds2 questions now if we are joking.. He has a particular look for it.. and I love it when it's someone not in the family who says something that actually deserves a litteral answer.. And they get it!

OP posts:
woolytree · 23/09/2010 22:42

DD understands there is no 'flying squirrel' in our garden and grandad is telling fibs!...it took a while though, she used to look for it every time! Grin

I love her litteral answers...she often says what Im thinking! :)

LOL at exploding dog Claw!!! Grin

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 22:45

Claw dh now wants to try the exploding dog out on ds2

he is evil!

OP posts:
Claw3 · 23/09/2010 23:02

Some of ds's best literal comments/thinking that i can think of now has to be:-

Professional to ds "What do you want to be when you are older"

Ds "about 40"

Another time.

Me "can you put the top on the hamster cage" (meaning the lid)

When i came back into the room, ds had taken off his top and placed it over the cage Grin

Thearsenic, i shall stop giving now, giving your dh ideas!

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 23:17

:o

Ds2 was talking about friends and who may not actually be being friendly with one professional.

P: ds do you understand what people are saying to you ?
Ds: of course I do, I have a large vocabulary!

OP posts:
woolytree · 23/09/2010 23:17

Never play 'hotter or colder' when searching for stuff with DD. :) ...DH forgot and shouted 'HOT'!

She still doesnt believe the Dolly in Toy Story 3 is a witch...(Bonnies pretending game)...'No its Dolly! :)

LOL at putting the top on the cage. Grin

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 23:20

Oh and apparently my mother needs educating.. Because she was trying to wrap up a monologue by ds By saying " really darling, I don't know muchabout that "
to which ds replied" it's okay grandma, you just need educating"

that convo went on quite a long time :o !

OP posts:
Claw3 · 23/09/2010 23:37

LOL i am supposed to typing up my DLA renewal form. Its been nice having a lighthearted thread, this has been much more of a giggle. Im sitting here Grining

Ds went to stay at grandma's house for a couple of days during the summer hols. He reported back to me "when nanny brushes her hair, her teeth fall out" (she has false teeth and takes them out and brushes her hair before bed)

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/09/2010 23:45

I say paahh to dla renewal forms.. Light hearted is the way to go!
:o
( you know I have slept and mned all day.. And I feel sooo much better for it , that and a giggle)

:o @ nannys teeth falling out

OP posts:
Claw3 · 24/09/2010 00:02

Yes, i feel quite the rebel, not filling in forms and staying up late paahh too!

Glad you are feeling better, a good sleep does wonders when you are feeling under the weather or a bit run down.

My rebellious streak has finished and i must get some sleep, not much of a rebel after all, a bit of a light weight! Good night Smile
