Well, that was odd. SEN officer there, 2 advisory teachers, TA, class teacher, head teacher and me and DH. What a roomful.

Good progress reported on DS (6, ASD) - diagnosis confirmed. Head then expecting outreach from the Autism unit up the road and was confounded to find that there would be none as all appeared to be fine.

Happily, I got to produce my sensory checklist which explained his strengths and weaknesses really well. I asked about the Autism IDP in school.

The school had never heard of it. And they looked right wallies in front of the LEA bods. They also failed to produce NC levels and reading age - again looking like buffoons.

I'm so glad I know the system as well as I do but it's wrong that those without our nouse don't get what they deserve.

Well, I knew they hadn't heard of it so I brought it up to show them up to the LEA.

And also to show the school and LEA we wouldn't be fcked over and they we are informed and dangerous*. Chances are they haven't come across many parents like that...

School said afterwards they were unhappy about the meeting (DH is a governor there) and that they were not expecting a formal meeting. Clearly they were not expecting the LEA SEN Officer and head honcho advisory bod.

Hopefully it will have galvanised the school a little for my ds and the 3 other dx'd asd'ers in that school!!!
