Run down.. migraine that has gone nowhere for days ( and I mean days .. I have had this checked out today.. As I was wondering if I was about to keel over).

It feels like my innerds have been a punch bag. Etc.. You get the picture!

I need some temporary pick me up to see me through till next Tuesday.. Life can't stop until then.. But I am seriously hanging!

So legal home remedies please.. The headache has to go and I need to top up the batteries just to get through.
Help :)

I made a loaf of bread a while ago. Felt temporarily better. Followed it up by eating real food. Not sugary junk for a change.

Also have the migraine thing atm and painkillers are not working. My brain and body is telling me I need to rest.

I would suggest a proper meal and a back/neck rub. And as much rest as you can.

hth!

Real food and three gallons of fruit juice sounds like a plan.

Sadly rest is going to have to hang on :(

Maybe dreaming of White sands and clear blue wash of the tide might help the migraine. ( I'm just pleased at the moment that I can actually see periodically)

I think it's years of build up of exhaustion.. Worked out today ( stupidly) that I haven't had a full nights sleep in 15 years!

"haven't had a full nights sleep in 15 years"

omg! Shock

you are doing well to be still standing

TheArsenicCupCake · 22/09/2010 20:50

Crunchy.. You Kind of get used to it..< hollow laughter>

blooming ds1 started the baby who doesn't sleep till he's four thing.. And then came along ds2... Who still doesn't go through the night ( he's almost 12).. dd however does sleep better than either of the boys..

Even when they are away from home.. I'm still on alert for the phone.. Because of ds2

dd nearly 2 NT (fingers crossed -Grin) has us up most nights

but my asd ds nearly five is finally sleeping through most nights

TheArsenicCupCake · 22/09/2010 20:58

Touching that wood for you as well :o

thing is ds2 doesn't have an external thought off switch..or volume control.. So if he is in REM.. it comes out LOUD. the other dc's have managed to learn to sleep through it :)

Oh dear arsenic you need a medal.

For your head try 4head stick, keep putting it on all day and drink loads of water.

another vote for proper food too, even if junk is easier itmakes me feel like junk.

Would the dcs watch a new dvd while you flopped on settee? or few new toys to keep them busy?

calming music on ipod?

and when you do eventually go to bed keep the room cool as overheating can make head worse.

TheArsenicCupCake · 22/09/2010 22:34

Thanks sumum

Did I say before that dd was the best sleeper?

I lied!! Not tonight she isn't.. ( think she's coming down with whatever the goingback to school bug is).. Littlest arsenic has set up camp on dhs side of the bed and it looks to be a long night ahead.

ah well .. At least her snoring is softer than dhs !
Although I did note that he rather quickly offered her his bit of the bed.. Muttering something about jumping into dds when some football match has finished!..

I give up < shrug>

Hi Arsenic, I tried to post some ideas for you last night, but MN went down just as I posted and I had to spend the rest of the night looking after my poorl old dog who had an operation yesterday and was in a really bad way.

I suffered from serious migraines for years before going on a medical trial which involved taking epilepsy medication for a short period - thankfully it worked for me.

Anyway, I saved my post so I could post it today for you, here it is:

May not be the best thing if you don't get enough sleep anyway, but a combination of caffeine and high dose ibuprofen will often help shift a migraine. The caffeine helps dilate the constricted blood vessels and the ibuprofen helps take down any swelling, particularly around the back of the eyes.

If you are having lots of visual disturbances its recommended that you close your eyes, keep them closed for at least ten minutes and if possible cover them with a cold/damp cloth or cooled eye mask.

I always found aromatherapy useful as well. Any of the more menthol or clearing oils such as eucalyptus seemed to help take the edge off. I know some people also use some of the more relaxing ones such as lavender and cammomile.

A good alternative prophylaxis to migraine treatment is feverfew - never tried it myself, but have been told by so many people that it works for them.

Finally, Spinkle is right, some good quality healthy food will help give your body some extra energy and you can boost this further by getting hold of some tonic from the chemist or health shop. Floradix always gives me a boost as I have a tendency to anaemia, but this stuff always seems to work for a quick pick-me up as well and my Mum swears by Metatone tonic. They sell both of them in Tescos.

Hope I have said something useful. You have always been so good offering me advice I'd really like to be able to return the favour.

Hope you are feeling better soon and enjoy your time off next week. Smile
