For DAVROS

Davros - we are in the final stages of the course.. it is spring break here and so we have a couple of weeks off. Did not get the sneaky extra BUT did learn that the nanny company need 'prac' families for Nannies to work with whilst they are doing their training. Don't have to pay them - just be a prac family. I wish I had known that when I was having dd2 as that would have made life soooo much easier.

SO I have applied for us to be a prac family - just have to wait and see if anyone is brave enough to want us. You have to be with the nany 80% of the time - which is okay - cause in a 5 day week still means you get the equivalent of a day off, where the nanny can look after then without you being around.

If you are a prac family means you only pay half the registration fee and can then use their casual baby sitters as well. Dh and I decided that we should sign up and have some couple time - we have not had any since we first arrived in Aus. My mum is not so brilliant at looking after the girls and hates driving at night so it would put an hours journey on the end of any night out. Figure if we get a casual nanny and train her up - we would be fine.

Otherwise life goes on busy and out and about all the time. In the process of enrolling dd1 into mainstream kindy - am off to check it out today and see what I think.

Thanks for asking - hope all is well at your end with the new school year.

Wow, the Prac family scheme sounds great and you definitely need a break and some "couple time". The only thing that has kept me going since DD came along is having some proper extra help. Mind you, I've learnt over the years not to get dependent on anyone and I've managed pretty well in the last 4 weeks while she's been away (in Oz would you belive?!). You see, you never now what you might learn when you go on these courses and group things, apart from the communication stuff you found out about the Prac Family scheme. Hope the visit to the m/s kindergaarten (sp?) went well. Things are OK here, DD and I have done lots of nice things together and I've managed to get some help now and then with her so I can do things with DS. I am looking forward to a break though when our regular girl gets back, she's supposed to be here this Friday and I am going to lie on the couch all day watching The Ashes! So I may not be talking to you next week
