SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Is this really right and what can you do?

I have a mum who is having a torrid time at the SEN assessment unit. He has only just started so it is early days.

She has been told by the assessmnet teacher that her child would not progress in mainstream and so he will have to go to the local SEN school.

Isn't it the parents choice where to send him? At least he should have a chance at MS.

Lougle ...your last post has me in tears. Our DS 11 has just started residential SS ..It continues to break our hearts ,he is the youngest of 4 sons and the noisiest ,though he has severe language disorder,so the house does not feel the same .. .I feel redundant,I now stay at work longer as I do not need to do the school run at 3,and do not want to go home so early .
He has been so good ,but monday night (they can phone everyday) he seemed quiet .I got so upset after and we feel we have abandoned him,but we know he is in the right place as 3 x profesionals said he needed this .He has been in MS all through but has been over looked and we feel he has been neglected so you can imagine the shock when severe complex needs were mentioned when they hadn`t before .But as you say they NEED this specialist help and you have to do whats best for them. x
We were also offered 2 other day ss but were also inappropriate for his needs.
