Does anyone else have a child who is sick at drop of hat?

DD has slight cough, was sick at nursery today so I had to go and pick her up again.

I told them I am 100% sure she is not ill (she is running around and eating loads), she just is sick very easily, probably due to her muscle tone, but still I get the call.

And then have to wrangle with them so she doesn't have to stay off for 48 hours (note, I would have no problem doing this if she WAS ill).

Today I have an assessment at work as the culmination of a years studying, instead of coming home to revise I have had to bring a completely well DD home, it's very frustrating.

not sure what I can do.

MY son had reflux as a baby, he is still sick at the drop of a hat, Our Gp wrote a letter to the GP to say if he is otherwise well assume it is reflux and allow him to stay..
Might be worth speaking to yours?

DS2 is ike this. He also coughs in his sleep and vomits in his sleep quite a lot.

He was a reflux baby and it hasn't really gone away.

Wrote a letter to nursery.. Coffee time!

dd3 is the same, thankfully school have got the picture now after reflux was mentioned on one of her hospital letters. I don't even get a phonecall now, I just have to make sure she has a bag of spare clothes on her peg. At almost 4.6 she seems to be slowly growing out of it.

meltedmarsbars · 21/09/2010 11:28

dd2 is 8 and still often sick. It took the mainstream school a bit longer to learn to distinguish when she is just sick and when she is ill but they are very good now.

A spare bag of clothes is a must!

Hope your assessment goes well!

thanks! I don't think the Head would have sent her home, but the Assistant Head was in charge today! Will speak to Head tomorrow, nursery is good for her and she loves it,don't want her off for no reason!

Yep. DS1 has asthma and isn't very compliant when it comes to taking his steroid inhaler, so every little sniffle is in danger of turning into a full blown all day coughing fit.

On the flip side, when he does take his inhaler well, he ends up with flaming oral thrush. Can't win.

ouryve · 21/09/2010 12:25

Oh, and you mean sick rather than ill. I read too many American boards!

But no, we see far more puke than we like, too. DS1 only had about 80% attendance in reception because he was always either coughing or puking.

Yay I passed assessment!

Then some foul woman shouted at me, so that burst my bubble!!

Congratulations!

Angry at nasty woman.

5inthebed · 21/09/2010 16:34

Well done on passing your assessment.

Why did the nasty woman shout at you? Where you sick on her Grin

nymphadora · 21/09/2010 16:36

Dd2 is like that and she is 9 now. Any cold, cough or bout of crying ends in vomit.

She shouted as the dentist was running late, I am a dental receptionist, my apology seemed to infuriate her for some reason!

phew, spoke to Head today, she was fantastic, as always, said that as DD is clearly often sick when not ill,so I am to give them a note and they will stop sending her home

Dd (hypermobile and low muscle tone) went through a phase where she threw up at the end of every dinner, right onto her plate. It was such a regular event that little brother used it to keep time with (what's the time now? would we have had dinner if we'd been home? is it bedtime yet? has dsis been sick yet?). Grew out of it in the end.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 22/09/2010 15:35

yes, DD has low muscle tone and is hypermobile too.

Hoping the GP will give us a note too, but not sure, as she was never really treated for the vomiting.

Seeing neurologists on Friday but I can't imagine trying to get them to write a note!!
