I think DD1 is starting to show her true colours

DD1 started special school on Thursday. When I went to collect her she was calmly playing with a pot of buttons, and happily left the classroom with me.

I thought to myself "oh, I hope they won't think she doesn't have any problems and chuck her out".

I didn't need to worry. When I went to collect her today, I saw through the window that she was struggling with a TA. It turns out that they wanted her to do a group activity, and she was having none of it.

She had also been obsessed with snack and lunch, and kept banging on about playing with water.

The TA said she was very 'self-directed' Grin

That's my girl...

They sound well up for it though, so that's a relief.

Agree, that feeling of "phew, they know what to do about this" is such a great one to have.

I have always tops dd1's school that I will know she is truly related there when she starts answering back and saying "NO!" in the way she does at home!

I understand the relief Lougle. Smile. She sounds happy and well looked-after there. DS has been a bit too happy at his new school so far and I kept worrying that I'd exaggerated to get him in there or that it was only because of my parenting that he was so bad.

I was quite relieved to find out about a class incident last week, and also that they'd handled it well too.

You wouldn't believe the conflict of emotions I've been having minute by minute. If you'd asked me 4.10 years ago (the month before her birth) I'd never have told you that I'd be feeling guilty about being glad she had kicked off [shocked]

It is so hard to guage disabilities, isn't it? Most of the children in the class are less verbal than DD1, but they were all sat nicely at circle time, and she was crying and writhing.

It's so great to be able to come here and share it with people who know what we are talking about. Smile

Too right, Star. I double-think my double-thinking until I am in knots.
