However this is after we already have a dyspraxia dx, a private OT report and the NHS OT service has stopped doing its sensory dysfunction program due to lack of staff.
Not sure how much use they will be and have to go through everything from the beginning with them again. Will probably ask them to do a report for what my son would need putting on his statement. Can they still make sensory suggestions for provion and can they make suggestions for provision for his ASD and ADD as well as his dyspraxia?

They should be able to make 'holistic' recommendations...hope it goes well.

Thanks giveme, it will be interesting to see how it goes, as I complained via local radio and TV News about their waiting times..

when we finally got an appt for our ds who has huge problems with motor skills/sensory integration/self care etc we got a home programme that was basically "put on trampoline, do gym like stuff".

We were told do this for six months. They that if we wanted a follow up we had to put ourselves back on the waiting list as they discharge after each appt all children that don't use aids such as wheelchairs.

Complete waste of time - reading the out of sync child was much more useful.

What i wanted was:

A programme of activities for use at home and school

Demonstrations of particular activities - particularly of complex ones involving crossing midline and working on vestibular system

Benchmarking - so that progress could be monitored and the programme adjusted

Regular supervison of home and school programme (at least a couple of time a term)

sorry not at all answering your question but i obviously needed to rant! Grin

Ds saw an independent ot for a year and we're now trying to get some ot put into the statement.

Thanks Crunchy. Yep we also saw the under 5s team and got discharged - well they assessed at school, listened to school, put a writing program in place at school and made other suggestions, didn't talk to us at all, school photocopied all the OT stuff for us to do at home. Then we saw a private OT (due to nhs waiting list)but their recommendations to the LEA, school, assessments ect have been ignored - They gave some good ideas for crossing the mid line ect and were more useful for at home stuff.
I completely understand your rant!
