I have a 7 year old boy who has aspergers. He has terrible pain in his lower abdomen, almost daily. Its not constant, but will be 2 or 3 times bad enough for him to roar loudly. He was admitted to hospital when he was 5 with acute tummy pain, but no cause was found and he went home pain free after 4 days. I'm new to the whole world of aspie children, but I have heard about the possible connection with tummy trouble. Anyone got any ideas? I fear the doctor thinks I am just looking for medical problems(blush)

Bump.

I think A LOT of kids with ASD have stomach problems - which mostly aren't diagnosed.

There has GOT to be a diet or medical reason.

Someone here must know more?

If you google autism and stomach problems you will get heaps of info. For us DD's tummy trouble stopped almost immediately after we stopped giving her normal milk and swapped to lactofree. We havent gone completely lactose free but just swapping the milk made all the difference.
Have you looked into doing allergy and food intolerance tests? I think there are also nutritionists out there who specialise in ASD. Good luck finding some answers and I hope your son finds some relief soon.

Thanks. Going lactose free seems to be the most common suggestion on what I've read. I Thanks.
