Am I expecting too much from DD school?

HI folks,
My DD has just started year 1, in a small local village primary school on the Isle of Man. (Certain discrimination laws don't apply here) She has a diagnosis for Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD tendencies, hypermobility, multiple food intolerances/allergies, chemical intolerance and bladder weakness. The school deal with all this fabulously with the obvious hic-cough here and there which comes with something like Aspergers. My daughter can be quite a challenge, but my problem is that she is also extremely bright (estimated 3 years ahead by EP).

I am I expecting too much for the school to deal with all the problems she presents AND challenge her academically??

Please be honest but not brutal, it is just a totally honest question.
Thanks Blush

Reassuring though that things are steadily improving.:)

Good grief,
Sorry folks have had a mental weekend with DD and only just got back online after dealing with the aftermath.

Secondly thank you everyone for your responses I really appreciate all the advice, and hope that some of it may have been just as much help to others as to me.

I am not the sit back and let them get on with it type and believe that teachers are there to give the best they can to all the children in their care. Even if that means involving other agencies or personel.

The statementing procedure is different here so my daughter has a Higher Level Need Certificate (equivelant statement) outline multiple areas of need including G&T (although no official g&t programmes here) Disability discrimination act and special needs code of practice don't even exist here, so schools are not governed by any rules just a case of good practice monitored by the Dept of ED (no LEAs).

justabout, I also try to praise the good people as I find it help when you want to moan about someone else.
anyway thanks for the advice guys, time to buckle up and address the academics now I truly feel that my expectations are justified.

wish me luck Grin
snoz
